Hey everyone, CykaDev here!
Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m not on time. If you didn’t see my message on Discord, I got sick this weekend and if I had to sum up Sunday, I laid in my sofa and stared at the ceiling for a few hours. Productive, indeed. But I feel better now, so here are your news!
Alrighty, let’s get to the actual stuff. First off, let’s talk about what’s left to do with the development of the game.
Yeah, I know, I keep mentioning how far we are in the writing, yadda yadda, but do I ever mention what’s left to do AFTER that? Yes, I do. But let’s pretend I don’t, and let’s try to cover this in a little more detail. Let me go grab my Trello and see what there is to do…
Ah, here we go. First off, I gotta finish the writing. That makes sense. Then, I have to re-read the integrality of the script, to get rid of the major typos, group sentences (because I have this nasty habit of splitting my sentences) and make sure that there aren’t any major plot inconsistencies. Bear in mind that I’m gonna be working with about 1.500.000 words and 100 hours of content, so plot inconsistencies are gonna be a thing, and I’m going to have to be very careful to bug reports once the game’s released. Oh, and of course, I have to fix the hundreds of bugs Ren’Py has been throwing at me for a few months now. I knew I should have fixed them progressively.
Now, as soon as I’m done re-reading the files, I’ll send them over to Maggie/Sakura in order for her to proofread them (like, real proofreading, not the stuff I’m doing). She’ll make sure the syntaxes look good, that there aren’t any leftover mistakes, and that the reading experience is smooth. In the meantime, Cloudi will be working on the sprites and CGs. As soon as Maggie’s done proofreading a file, she’ll send it back to me, so that I can throw in the sprites, animations and music.
Then, I’ll have to work on the Steam integration! Yeah, that means I have to make sure the achievements are working. Oh, yeah, because we’re gonna have achievements, a CG room and a music room. Who knows, maybe a scenes tracker too? Doing the full VN package here.
Basically, all the stuff that will be left after that will mostly be marketing and pre-release preparation. That means paying for advertisement, working on a trailer, getting the Steam release ready, making sure that everyone knows the game will be released… it’ll be the most stressful part. So far, I’ve only had to manage mod launches, so imagine a game?
Anyway, this is it for the workflow we’re gonna have for the next few months. Crazy to think we’re so (relatively) close to the end, huh?
Before I go, here are your weekly stats. We currently have 1.254.000 words for 257.000 lines. Progress is stable, and I’m pretty happy with what we have so far!
That’s it. Thanks for reading, I hope my explanation didn’t chloroform you. If it did, good night! If it didn’t, see you next week! 🙂
