Hey everyone, CykaDev here!
I didn’t post any news last week, but for once, it was kind of intentional. By that, I mean that I initially forgot about them, then decided it would be better if I did not post them. Are you perhaps wondering why? The answer’s coming in a second.
Today’s news are… kind of special. First off, they’re one day earlier than usual. Why is that? Simply because there would be no point in waiting for tomorrow…
Since the writing phase is officially completed!
I know, it’s crazy. I can’t even believe it myself. It’s been about two years of daily hard work, writing, double-checking, and more hard work… But that all lead to today! The writing is officially done, with 1.8 million words and 368.000 lines!
In today’s news, I won’t be revealing anything particular in the Concrete Information Corner, as I’d rather talk about what we’re going to be doing from now on. I often get the same question: “Can you release the game once the writing’s done?”
And the answer is, of course, no. That’d be too easy. From now on, we have quite a few things to take care of:
– I have to fix every single bug in the game (still got these 1500 bugs waiting for me, yeah)
– After the bugs are fixed, I have to re-read everything to make sure it’s all good
– Once I’m done re-reading a file, Sakura will proofread it and send it back
– Once I get the file back, I’ll add in the sprites Cloudi lovingly crafted, and I’ll add the music
And after that, basically… There are a lot of small tasks. The problem is, they add up rather quickly, and they’re going to take a while. For instance, the main menu, the CG room, the music room, getting the fanpack ready… These are all necessary tasks I’ll have to worry about in due time in order for the game’s release to go smoothly.
So yeah, this is it. This is the end of the writing phase.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about the weekly news… They’ll still be here! I just won’t be flaunting my stats and how much work is left. I’ll try to keep you posted on how much work we’re getting done and how far we are from the release.
That’s it for this week. Thanks for your support, and let’s have a toast for this special day!
